We are now making our heavy duty rubber ties
available for sale. The Red Oak Rubber Tie was
developed out of a frustration with the rubber
ties we purchased from supply catalogs. The ties
we bought never seemed to hold up with our
horses. As a result we decided to build our own.
Our heavy duty rubber ties are made from 1 inch
rubber cord with heavy duty swivel bolt snaps
and have withstood testing with our horses for a
couple years now.
Rubber Ties are an excellent way of teaching
foals or older horses to tie. The advantage of
the rubber is that they give and stretch when
the foal or horse pulls back while still
maintaining tension which is released when the
horse yields to the pressure. Using rubber ties
results in a much smaller chance of the horse
panicking and harming either themselves and/or
their handler than when tied with a solid rope
or tie.
Rubber ties are also recommended by experts to
use for trailering of horses. In the event that
something spooks or frightens the horse, the
flexible ties will stretch when the horse jerks
back. The proper length of the tie when
trailering horses is so that the horse has just
enough slack in the tie to enable it to reach
the bottom of the feeder. An additional
advantage of the rubber is that in the case of a
trailer emergency, the tie can be quickly cut
with a pocket knife to release the horse.
We also use the rubber ties in our stalls for
routine tying. We just leave the ties in the
stalls since, in our experience, horses do not
bother or chew them.Red Oak rubber
ties are made to order in 18, 24, 36 or 48 inch
lengths with other custom lengths available and
are guaranteed against defects in quality and
workmanship.
